Unlike the other locks along the Canal Du Midi, this lock was not named after a nearby village or farm. Instead it is called after an event. Sanglier is French for boar, or wild pig. Boars are plentiful in the south of France, and adults are very dangerous. Apparently the construction workers that build this lock got into a fight with a very large wild boar here, and were able to kill it. So if you are at this lock, be aware of wild pigs here...they are truly dangerous.
A bit upstream from here is one of the highway rest stops that you can access from the bike path, which is useful if you need a toilet or need to wash your hands. The highway rest stop has good facilities.
